For 2004, Chevrolet introduces the Colorado line of trucks as replacement for the
S-10 platform. Regular Cab versions are available in four models: Base or LS trim,
in either 2WD or 4WD configuration. Extended Cab versions are available in four
models: Base or LS trim, in either 2WD or 4WD configuration. Crew Cab versions are
available in four models: Base or LS trim, in either 2WD or 4WD configuration.
Newly designed from the chassis up, the Colorado receives new engine choices, as
well. The base engine is a 2.8L 175 hp in-line four cylinder, with a 220 hp 3.5L
in-line five cylinder available as an upgrade. Both engines are available with
either a manual or an automatic transmission. 2WD Colorados can be equipped with
the optional Sport Suspension Package, which features a lowered ride height,
17-inch wheels with low profile tires, and body-colored exterior components. The
Z71 Off-Road Package is also available on all models.
